My first post of mini movie reviews.

I'll use the this symbol as way to tel everyone if a movie is worth seeing or not. It will be this symbol *.

Here is how I'll rate them with the *.

5 or ***** Great
4 or **** Neato
3 or *** Maybe worth seeing
2 or ** Could be better
1 or * wait for on DVD, TV, or rent it

The Invasion (2007) 1*
Nicole Kidman stars along with Daniel Craig, Jeffrey Wright, Jeremy Northam and Veronica Cartwright in the fourth remake of “Invasion of the Body Snatchers”.

Stay away from the no thrills, a yawner and wait for it on DVD. The only redeeming thing is Nicole Kidman. She goes though almost every emotion possible including showing no emotions at all!! Or if you are a fan of the new Bond Daniel Craig but his role isn’t that great in this movie. Hopefully the two of them will have a hit together with their new movie “The Golden Compass” this December.
The Invasion is rated PG-13 for violence, disturbing images and terror. It has a running time of 99 minutes.

Revenge(1990) 3 ***

Kevin Costner, Anthony Quinn and Madeleine Stowe star in the action packed and romatic movie. It’s from director Tony Scott(Deja Vu) .
The movie is a very basic love story. You know boy falls in love always with the girl. In this case it’s Anthony Quinn’s wife played by the beautiful Madeleine Stowe. Kevin Costner is the man she falls in love with. Of course during the movie he finds out about their affair.

In the end, Kevin Costner finally gets the girl back, only to have her die in his arms.
This movie is rated R . It has a running time of 104 minutes if watch the director’s cut .If you watch the regular version it is 124 minutes

Invasion of the Body Snatchers(1978) 4 ****
Donald Sutherland, Brooke Adams, Leonard Nimoy (Star Trek) , Jeff Goldbum, and Veronica Cartwright( The Invasion, The Birds) star in this remake of the 1950’s classic. It ‘s directed by Philip Kaufman(The Right Stuff,Rising Sun).

The four friends find out that they get you when you sleep. They promise to watch over each other so it’s does’nt . By now the entire city is under the pods control. The pod people chase the friends though out the city. Jack and Nancy separate from Elisabeth and Matthew.

Look for cameos from Kevin McCarthy from the original. Also look for Robert Duvall in the start on a swing set. Director Philip Kaufman has cameo as man wanting to use the phone and also a city official on the phone to Donald Sutherland. Be out the for Jerry Garcia as homeless bun. He is not credited for his part.
This movie is rated PG. It has a running time of 115 minutes.

Transformers(2007) 5 *****

Michael Bay (The Island, Armageddon) directs this live action version of the classic 1980’s TV series to the big screen. In this updated live action version we see the heroic Autobots fighting their evil enemies the evil Deceptions. The transformers are searching for a device from their home planet of Cybertron called the Allspark. It has the power to heal and give whoever holds untold power

There is sequel planned for a 2009 release. This movie is very violent. There are references scattered though out the movie to the TV series and toys. Even the Transformers eyes are reference to the cartoon series. It’s probably one of Michael Bay’s better films. This movie also has movie director Steven Spielberg as one of it’s producers (Executive).
It is rated PG-13 for intense sequences of sci-fi action violence, brief sexual humor, and language. This movie has a running time of 144 min. It is a fast paced movie and the action never seems to stop.

Night at the Musuem(2006) 4 ****

Ben Stiller leads an all star cast in this movie. He co-stars with Hollywood legends Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney and Bill Cobbs. Robin Williams also stars in this magical fantasy movie. Carla Gugino from the “Spy Kids” movies is also in a tour guide and love interest for Stiller.

This was one of the better movies that I’ve seen Ben Stiller and Robin William in. He looks he enjoying his role. Williams is interesting as Teddy Roosevelt. It’s a great family movie everyone can enjoy together.
Rated PG for mild action, language and brief rude humor. This movie has a running time of 108 minutes.

This movie is a lot better than the 2007 remake with Nicole Kidman and Daniel Craig. It should be on DVD soon due to it's pathetic box office at theaters.

Crank(2006) 3***

In the movie “Crank” Jason Statham from The Transporter movies wakes up and finds out he has been poisoned. Chevy Chellios (Statham) goes on a very violent streak across L.A. He only has 1 hour left to live and he’s going to need every minute he can get.

This action packed thriller also co-stars Amy Smart from “The Butterfly Effect”. Country singer Dwight Yokam also stars his Chellios doctor.
Eventually Chellios meets up the villain and has a final showdown in high-rise hotel. Chellios has a final battle on a helicopter. Chellios meets his fate but not the way the villain intended to.
Rated R for strong violence, pervasive language, sexuality, nudity and drug use. It is 87 minutes .

The Wicker Man( 2006) 1*

Nicholas Cage stars in the remake of the 1973 original. Cage is Edward Malus a motorcycle sheriff. After a family strangely disappears at stop that Malus makes, he retires for a while.
While Malus is recovering from his accident, he gets a letter from an old flame. It is from his old friend Willow. Malus also get word from Willow that her daughter is missing. So Malus goes off to the very strange island world of Summerisle in Washington State.

The residents of Summerisle seem to resent that an outsider is among them. They give him little help or none at all. Eventually Edward meets up with Sister Summerisle who runs the island. Along the way Edwards discovers that the island is into pagan rituals and might be a cult!
At this films ending, Edwards eventually meets up with the Wicker Man and his daughter after his finds out from Willow on the island, He never returns back as the whole thing was set up to get up him for a strange cult ritual. There is another ending with James Franco from the Spider-Man movies but it sets it up a possible sequel one day?

It is rated PG-13 for for disturbing images and violence, language and thematic issues. This movie has a run time of 102 minutes.

Live Free or Die Hard(2007) 3 ***

In the fourth installment of Fox’s “Die Hard “franchise we find Bruce Willis fighting Internet terrorists who want to take down the United States. This time we are back in Washington D. C (where “Die Hard 2: Die Harder took place, just not at the airport).
Willis is back as John McClane with an escort he’s assigned to protect. The escort is played by rising star Justin Long (Galaxy Quest,Dodgeball: An True Underdog Story). Of course why Willis is always risking his life to be a hero? It’s because there’s nobody else to do it. McClane is back to do his yippie-ki-yay butt and hopefully save us all in a post 9/11 world,

Overall I had a fun time with this movie despite the fact they kinda ruined Bruce Willis line when he kills off the villain, I wont say they wreck it buy since it’s a PG-13 movie. It had be toned down a bit. But I enjoyed everyone performaces I hope to see more of Justin Long & Mary Elizabeth Winstead in future movie roles.

Pirates of the Caribbean:At World's End(2007) 2 **

In this third movie in the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, we find that Jack Sparrow is still in Davy Jones’s locker after being killed by the Kraken. So Barbossa, Will, Elizabeth, Tia Dalma plan on rescuing Jack. We also discover the Lord Beckett has taken control over the Flying Dutchman.

In the end of the mess, the pirates defeat Beckett; Jones meets his fate in a duel with Jack Sparrow. Will and Elizabeth get married but there’s a catch involved. I will not say what it is as it’s a major spoiler for those who have yet seen this movie. Barbossa gets his ship back the Black Pearl and Jack set off on another adventure in the Bermuda triangle.
This movie tries it’s best to wrap all of the plot lines from the past two movies. But since it’s a Jerry Bruckheimer movie, expect a wafer thin plot
There is lots of action and stuff being blown up for action fans.

It’s a mess of a movie that big action and special effects fans will like. But if you are looking for a decent movie this summer, wait for this one on DVD. This movie has too many things happening at once. There are too many characters to deal with, and it’s very confusing. There is a spoiler at involving Will and Elisabeth so don’t leave until after the credits are over.
Hopefully Jerry Bruckheimer will redeem himself later on this year with the highly anticipated sequel to “National Treasure” due out on December 21, 2006.
It’s rated PG-13 for intense sequences of action/adventure violence and some frightening images and has running time of 168 minutes.
